Five things cover ninety percent of the day:

  • Swimwear — worn under your clothes, so the first swim stop is a ten-second job.
  • A towel per swimmer, and a dry layer for the ride back.
  • Serious sun protection: high-SPF cream, sunglasses and a hat that survives a breeze. Light on open water is stronger than it feels.
  • Cash or card for the tour payment itself (you pay on the day) and small extras.
  • Your phone charged — the canyon is the most photographed stretch of this coast for a reason.

Worth adding, depending on you

A second tier for particular travellers:

  • Water shoes — swim stops are from the boat into deep, clear water; shoes are comfort, not necessity.
