Green Canyon or Göynük Canyon? Two Canyons, Two Different Sports

Same word, different sports: one canyon you cruise, one you wade. Geography — not marketing — decides which one is yours.
Antalya has two famous canyons, and they could hardly be less alike. The Green Canyon is a flooded mountain canyon behind the Oymapınar Dam above Manavgat, on the eastern side of the coast — experienced entirely by boat, because the walls rise straight from deep emerald water and there is no promenade to stroll. Göynük Canyon is a narrow slot gorge in the Taurus behind Göynük on the Kemer side, west of Antalya — experienced on foot, part walkway, part wading. Two canyons, two disciplines
On the Green Canyon the day is spent on the water. Our classic Boat Tour cruises for around four and a half hours with a freshly prepared lunch cooked on board and several unhurried swim stops in cold, spring-fed water; the Catamaran shows the same scenery in roughly two and a half hours, with one swim stop and a spacious open deck. Göynük is the opposite discipline: you walk into the gorge itself, along walkways and through the stream where the rock closes in. One canyon asks you to sit back and swim; the other asks for sure feet and a change of clothes.
The differences at a glance
Strip the marketing away and a simple split remains.
- Geography: the Green Canyon lies east of Antalya, above Manavgat; Göynük lies west, behind Kemer — opposite ends of the gulf.
- Sport: cruising and swimming versus walking and wading.
- Effort: the boat asks almost nothing of you; the gorge wants steady footing and a tolerance for cold water.
- Water: a deep, still, spring-fed lake versus a shallow mountain stream between close rock walls.
- Food: lunch is cooked on board our classic boat; in a slot gorge, you plan your own.
- Pickup: we collect daily from Side and Manavgat, daily in season from Alanya, Mondays and Thursdays from Belek and Antalya — and, honestly, not from the Kemer side at all.
Who should pick which
Geography decides this one, and we would rather say so plainly than sell against it. Staying in Kemer, Göynük or anywhere on the western shore? Göynük Canyon is your local canyon; there is no scheduled Green Canyon pickup from that side, and we will not pretend otherwise. Staying in Side, Manavgat, Alanya, Belek or Antalya city (Lara and Kundu included)? Nothing is paid online; you pay on the tour day, with free cancellation up to 24 hours ahead. Fitting both canyons into one holiday only makes sense if your itinerary genuinely spans both coasts — a two-centre stay, or a hire car and an early start.
